A striking vintage 1940s German overcoat, made by 'C&A Formtreu' from a thick, heavyweight wool cloth in dark chocolate brown. It is double-breasted with 6 buttons, has broad lapels, heavily padded shoulders, gauntlet cuffs, 2 flapped lower patch pockets, & back belt with 2 buttons; all enhanced by double rows of top-stitching on the seams & edges. Fully lined with dark brown satiny fabric, with 2 inside breast pockets.

Size: Marked 60, suggested Medium Long, to fit about a 40" chest, depending on whether a suit jacket is worn beneath.

All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):

Condition:
In good condition overall, does not appear very much worn but with some flaws: Externally there is scattered surface moth tracking which is quite hard to see except in raking light, predominantly around the lower hem & on the upper left sleeve (see close ups) - a small nibble to the back of the collar, 2 to the top edge of the right pocket & another to the top edge of the back belt - the small button on the kick vent is broken. Internally there are patches of moth damage & holes on the lower front edges & facings (not visible from the outside) - some holes in the lining by the centre of the kick vent - a few other small holes & scuffs - some fading at the neck back. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but a slightly musty storage smell remains.
