Vintage Mens 1950s 1960s Donkey Jacket Work Coat Black Wool Workwear L / XL
A vintage circa 1950s/1960s 'Clydesider' workwear jacket, tailored in Scotland for the Mersey Equipment Company (I think - the label has degraded). Styled rather like a deluxe donkey jacket & made from black heavyweight wool Melton cloth, it has a boxy cut with no side seams, pointed collar, button fastening, two patch pockets with flaps, & is lined in the body with fleecy tartan flannel with an inside pocket.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
NB Accessories not included.
Size: Suggested L / XL, to fit about a 44" chest, depending on layers worn beneath.
Photographed on a 38" mannequin.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Chest - armpit to armpit: 25" (63.5cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 20" (51cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 24 1/2" (62cm)
Armpit to cuff: 17 1/2" (44.5cm)
Waist: 27" (68.6cm)
Back length - neck seam to hem: 31 1/2" (80cm)
Condition:
In excellent condition with light wear overall - minor edge wear round the cuffs - the internal backing buttons appear to have been melted by dry cleaning at some point (arrowed). Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
