A vintage 1950s two-piece suit from 'Jess Butz', the campus menswear shop at the University of Pennsylvania, made from a fairly soft, finely woven herringbone wool tweed fabric in mid-brown tones. Single-breasted 3-roll-2 button sack jacket with lightly padded shoulders, notch lapels, centre vent, welted chest & lower flap pockets, cuffs with 2 decorative buttons; part lined in brown rayon with ivory sleeve linings. Trousers are flat fronted, with belt loops, braces buttons, side slip, watch & 2 rear pockets, Talon zip fly, turn-ups. A classic American Ivy style suit, looks a lot like Brooks Brothers of this era, & in fact came to me years ago with a Brooks suit from the same owner but isn't labelled as such.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition:
In good condition overall, with some signs of use & minor flaws - there is surface wear to the elbows, thighs, seat of the trousers & other contact points - the jacket has 2 small holes & a very faint dark mark to the upper right back (arrowed & circled), wear to the centre buttonhole, some watermarks to the lining - the trousers have 2 worn areas on the fly edge (arrowed), a small repair to the left knee & another to the outside left calf, some fraying at the hem, some invisible repairs along the seat seam, the seat seam has been let out to the max & is a bit untidy, the linings & pocket bags are discoloured & have some stains. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
