A superb vintage 1950s Argyll style kilt jacket bespoke tailored in 1955 by 'David C. Angus' of Glasgow from a beautiful medium weight tweed in micro check weave in a Lovat green mixture. The jacket has a 2 button fastening with wide lapels - medium padded shoulders - gauntlet cuffs - fitted waist - twin side vents - welted chest & scalloped flapped lower pockets - top-stitched swelled edges & rib details - fitted with real stag horn buttons - body lined with grey/green rayon twill fabric with 1 chest pocket, sleeves lined with cream striped acetate. Made intentionally short & cut away at the front for wear with kilt & sporran, this type of Highland jacket can also be seen in period photos worn with plus fours & breeches.

Condition: In excellent condition, with light wear overall - on close examination there are a few scattered very faint brownish marks - some scuffs, snags & marks to the lining. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned.
