A wonderful, unique vintage 1950s Norfolk jacket & knickerbockers or breeks suit, which according to the person from whom I acquired it was bespoke tailored in a Victorian or Edwardian style for his bicycle-collecting father to wear whilst riding his Penny Farthing. Made from a medium-weight wool fabric in an unequal herringbone weave in blue-grey tones with darker blue & red in the pinstripes - the close-ups show it best on my screen. Single-breasted 4-button jacket with broad, quite heavily padded shoulders, notch lapels, shoulder yokes front & back, front pleats with false chest pockets, false back pleat, rear vent, lower patch pockets with buttoned flaps, attached button-fastened belt; fully lined in grey satiny fabric with ivory sleeve linings, 1 chest pocket. Plus fours are full-cut & wide in the thigh with a slight taper to the cuff, have single inward pleats, side slip pockets, button fly, braces buttons, side waist buckle adjuster tabs, button-fastened ankle tabs with further buttons to close the vents. No labels present; the brace buttons are marked 'Triumph Brand'.

Condition:
In very good condition overall, not much worn but with some flaws - the jacket has a slight fade/patina across the shoulders - a spillage has caused dark staining, discolouration & some stiffening to the left pocket, which also has a repaired hole (circled) - a faint brown mark on the left chest (circled) - 2 holes between the top buttons (circled) - the bottom button is slightly pulling away - a large hole & a smaller hole (circled) & several smaller holes (arrowed) on the right sleeve - about 6 other small nips & marks which the camera couldn't see. The trousers have 9 or 10 small holes, the most apparent are in the circled areas - some saddle-wear - watermarks & discolouration to the linings - a tear to the cuff lining (arrowed). Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
