An unusual vintage 1950s two-piece suit, bespoke tailored by 'Manning, Pratt & Co.' in 1958 for Wing Commander Sir George Stanley Waller, QC, OBE from a really beautiful medium-weight wool fabric in a glen plaid weave in shades of pale sage green, brown & natural with muted orange overchecks. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with medium padded shoulders, broad notch lapels, fitted waist, welted chest & lower flap pockets, cuffs with 2 working of 4 buttons; lined in beige alpaca with off-white striped sleeve linings. Trousers are high rise, full-cut in the seat & wide in the leg, with double inward pleats, side buckle adjusters, braces buttons, front cash, side slip & unique asymmetrical rear pockets of differing sizes, 1 with flap & 1 without, button fly, turn-ups.

Condition:
In good condition overall, with signs of use, some flaws & repairs:
The jacket has several small holes on the lower front hem, 1 on the back left sleeve, 1 on the right cuff, 1 on the right cuff, 1 on the right pocket flap, most of which have been repaired - slight yellowing on the collar fold - the lining has scuffs, snags, small holes, wear & repairs at the armpits & neck back, the sleeve linings have stains, watermarks. The trousers have about a dozen small repairs to the upper inner thigh areas, a faint yellowed patch at the crotch, 2 faint brown marks on the outer left thigh, a tiny repair to the lower right leg, wear, marks & repairs around the hems - some discolouration, stains & wear to the pocket bags & linings - the back seam has been taken in - several of the buttons have been replaced with named buttons from other West End tailors. Please see all close ups. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
