A tremendous vintage 1950s three-piece suit, bespoke tailored in a hard to find extra large size by 'Cobb & Son' of London W1 from a lovely moderately heavy-weight wool houndstooth weave tweed in mossy greens and greyish fawn with burnt orange overchecks; on my screen the close ups are most accurate. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with quite heavily padded shoulders, rearward-sloping shoulder seams, broad notch lapels with storm tab beneath, side vents, welted chest & lower flap pockets, cuffs with 4 decorative buttons; fully lined in grey/green rayon twill with ivory sleeve linings, 1 inside chest & 1 ticket pocket. Waistcoat with 6 buttons, 4 outside & 1 inside pockets, rear adjuster strap, backed & lined to match the jacket. Trousers are full cut & wide in the leg, with double inward pleats, side buckle adjuster tabs, braces buttons, side slip, front cash & 1 rear pocket, button fly, turn-ups. Only the label on the waistcoat back strap remains. Shirt & tie not included.

Condition: In very good to excellent condition with light wear overall - there are some faint brownish marks on the jacket front, trouser front & lower left leg - the jacket has some yellowing to the collar fold, slight dustiness across the shoulders & towards the cuffs, the lining has some scuffs & marks - the waistcoat has been let out at the sides, leaving stitch marks on the original line - the trousers have a small repair near the base of the fly, some marks & wear to the linings & pocket bags, staining to the fly lining & crotch lining, the waist has been let out & a small V of extra fabric inserted. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing - a dry clean would help freshen up after long storage.
