A vintage Burtons two-piece suit from the second half of the 1950s, made from wool flannel fabric in dark charcoal grey. The double-breasted jacket has strongly padded shoulders, broad lapels, fitted waist, flapped lower pockets, & 6 x 4 button fastening; it is fully lined in black rayon/acetate twill with ivory striped sleeve linings. The trousers are full-cut & wide in the leg, with double inward pleats, side waist button tab adjusters, 'Lightning' zip fly, brace buttons, turn-ups, and side slip & 1 rear pockets. Apart from the zip fly this is not really very different to Burton suits made in the late '40s.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition:
In excellent condition overall, does not appear much worn - apparently once the property of a costume company, who have written sizes inside - there is a barely visible tiny rub/fray on the inner left sleeve & a small hole on the outer right leg at about knee level (both arrowed) - the top 2 cuff buttons are odd replacements - the turn-ups have been pressed & tacked at 1 1/4" depth to gain length. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but a faint storage mustiness remains.
