A vintage early 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket retailed by 'Purves & Son', made from 100% pure wool in a classic mini check weave in shades of brown, pale blue-grey & natural. Single breasted 3-button fastening with wide lapels - centre vent - medium padded shoulders - fitted waist - welted breast & lower flapped pockets - body lined with sandy beige rayon twill fabric with 1 chest & 1 ticket pocket, sleeves lined with ivory satiny fabric. In addition to the standard Harris label there is an attractive full colour label in the neck.

Size: Suggested 38" Short Photographed on a 38" mannequin. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):

Condition: In good condition, with signs of wear overall - externally a slight general patina & some scattered faint marks (most noticeably on the right sleeve, circled) - slight yellowing to the collar fold - internally, some marks & snags to the body lining - the sleeve liners are discoloured & marked, have wear, splits & fraying to at the armpits (see close ups) & further splits at elbow level - the labels are discoloured. Has been thoroughly steamed but a faint storage smell & mustiness remains.
