An interesting 1950s Harris Tweed jacket in a rare & particularly lovely heathery pinkish brown/grey tone rather like the 'Hodden Grey' worn by the London Scottish Regiment, which has been "Edwardianised" at the time by the addition of another button at the top. Single breasted 4-button fastening with notch lapels (one photo shows how it looks when rolled to the original top button)- centre vent - medium padded shoulders - fitted waist - welted breast & lower flapped pockets - leather 'football' buttons - body fully lined with taupe/brown satiny fabric with 2 chest pockets (1 of which is a later addition) & 1 ticket pocket, sleeves lined with ivory acetate. The Harris label bears the 'Applied in accordance' text which I believe came into use in about 1954.

Condition: In very good condition overall, with light wear & some flaws - there are several discreet repairs: on the lower front of the left sleeve, on the collar fold, & on the centre front (arrowed) - on closer examination some surface grazing here & there, most noticeably by the back vent (circled) - the front buttons are not very neatly sewn on - one cuff button is an odd replacement - the lining has some scuffs, marks & stains - sweat marks at the armpits. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
