Vintage Mens 1940s 1950s Harris Tweed Sports Jacket Rust Brown White Check 37" 38"
A vintage late 1940s or early 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket retailed by 'Butlers of Reading', made from 100% pure wool in an offset mini check weave in a delightful & very uncommon mix of rusty brown & off white which has a rather hairier, more rustic appearance than usual - on my screen the close ups are most accurate. Single breasted 3-button fastening with fairly wide lapels - centre vent - quite heavily padded shoulders - fitted waist - welted breast & lower angled, flapped hand & ticket pockets - leather 'football' buttons - body lined with brown rayon twill fabric with 1 chest pocket, sleeves lined with ivory striped cotton/rayon fabric.
Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description.
Size: Suggested 37"/38" Regular to Long - photographed on a 38" mannequin.
All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):
Jacket Chest - armpit to armpit: 20 3/4" (52.7cm)
Shoulder to shoulder: 18" (45.7cm)
Shoulder to cuff: 25 1/2" (64.7cm)
Armpit to cuff: 17 3/4" (45cm)
Waist: 18 1/2" (47cm)
Back length - bottom of collar to hem: 30" (76cm)
Condition:
In very good condition, with light wear overall - there are several small repairs, most noticeably on the right sleeve, right lapel & left shoulder (in the circled areas), which are quite well masked by the variegated nature of the cloth - a few other broken strands & snags, mostly around the cuffs & on the front edges - the lining has scattered small holes & snags, mostly on the back section. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
I have a no returns policy - please check the above measurements and compare to a similar garment of your own before buying - no refund offered for items that don’t fit.
