A wonderful vintage 1950s Italian suit, exquisitely bespoke tailored by 'Loris Antonellini, Bagnacavallo' from a medium-weight, soft handle wool fabric in mid-grey with off-white rope stripes in a style which exemplifies the Continental cut popular in the second half of the '50s as shown in the period illustrations. The jacket is single-breasted, single button with broad, quite lightly padded shoulders, very full drape chest & fitted waist, wide notch lapels, side vents, welted chest & lower pockets, cuffs with 3 decorative buttons; lined in grey rayon twill with ivory sleeve linings. Trousers are slim fitting with tapered legs, have double outward pleats, extra-long waist tab running above the watch pocket, braces buttons, welted front pockets, 2 rear buttoned pockets & button fly with internal double-button bearer; lined at the seat, fork & knee.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition:
In excellent condition with light wear overall - the jacket has a faint brown mark below the left pocket (arrowed), the lining has some faint marks & foxing - the trousers have some faint brownish marks to the upper inside legs (arrowed in close ups), very faint yellowing to the thighs, some marks & discolouration to the pocket bags & linings. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned.
