A vintage 1950s Harris Tweed sports jacket from the well-known outfitter 'John Collier', made from 100% pure wool in a houndstooth or Shepherd check weave in shades of brown, pale green, & natural which is best shown on the close up of the labels. Single breasted 3-button fastening with notch lapels - centre vent - medium padded shoulders - fitted waist - welted breast & lower flapped pockets - leather 'football' buttons - body fully lined with fancy weave taupe acetate with 1 chest pocket, sleeves lined with ivory acetate. The Harris label bears the 'Applied in accordance' text which I believe came into use in about 1954.

Condition:
In very good condition overall, with light wear & some flaws - there are several discreet repairs: on the lower right front, by the middle button, between the top buttonholes, on the outer left sleeve, on the right cuff edge, & on the back near the collar (circled/arrowed) - a few other tiny repairs & snags which the camera couldn't see - some yellowing to the collar fold & around the cuffs - the lining has some pinholes, marks & stains. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed but some fustiness at the armpits remains.
