A lovely vintage late 1950s British 2-piece suit, nicely tailored from 'A Whitwam Worsted' medium weight pure wool cloth in a small dogtooth check in 2 shades of brown on a natural beige background. Single-breasted semi-hacking style 2 button jacket with medium padding in the shoulders which extends over the shoulder blades, fairly slim notch lapels, suppressed or fitted waist, centre vent, welted chest & angled lower flap hand & ticket pockets, cuffs with 4 decorative buttons; fully lined in goldy-taupe satiny rayon with ivory striped sleeve linings. Trousers are quite full cut with tapered legs, twin inward pleats, braces buttons, side slip & 1 flapped rear pocket, 'Lightning' zip fly, & turn-ups with leather hem protectors. Unfortunately the maker's label has been removed.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition: In very good condition overall, does not appear much worn - the jacket has 2 very faint marks on the lower front & a few marks to the lining - the trousers have a small repair on the right front thigh, about 16 1/2" down from the waist - some faint brown marks & spots on the inside left leg, rear left hip & near the fly (circled & arrowed, looks like a drink spill) - a tiny moth hole on the left turn-up (red arrow) - the waist has been let out & extra fabric added to the lining - the legs have been very slightly narrowed; the seam allowance remains to let them back out if desired. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned - a slight storage mustiness remains.
