A vintage 1960s two-piece set comprising jacket & waistcoat, bespoke tailored in a rather backdated style by 'F A Stone & Sons' in 1961 from a medium-weight wool fabric in an unusual olive & sage mixture with small overchecks in 2 shades of brown. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with quite lightly padded shoulders, notch lapels with under collar button, fitted waist, side vents, welted chest & lower flap pockets, cuffs with 3 working buttons; lined in green with grey & off-white striped sleeve linings. Waistcoat with 6 buttons, 4 pockets, rear prong buckle adjuster strap, backed & lined to match the jacket. The jacket has been let out by a tailor but the waistcoat has not been altered. Presumably originally a 3-piece suit - would go well with cavalry twill trousers or breeches.

Condition:
In good condition overall, with signs of use, some flaws & repairs:
The jacket has a small repair at the back corner of the right hand pocket (arrowed) - slight yellowing on the collar fold - some faint brownish marks, most noticeably at the centre back hem - on closer examination there are marks where the side & back seams have been let out - the lining has scuffs, snags, small holes, commensurate marks where let out, wear & fading, 2 patch repairs, sweat marks at the armpits; the sleeve linings have stains, watermarks. The waistcoat has faint marks & fading at the neck back - sweat marks at the armpits. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned - there is a slight odour at the armpits.
