A vintage 'Mary Maxim' cardigan in a classic 'Antique Autos' design, hand knitted circa 1960s from chunky, heavyweight wool in cream & grey with a super picture knit in red, yellow, black & grey. It has a high shawl collar, raglan sleeves, 2 pockets & fastens with a painted metal 'Lightning' zip with 'coffin' puller. Original pattern included; it appears that knitting was not the maker's forte, as some of the stitching is a rather bumpy, the making up sewing is a bit crude, & the zip has been put in a bit wonky so the top doesn't quite line up... all very characterful!

Condition: In very good condition overall with some wear & minor bobbling - the stitching holding the zip is coming slightly loose at the top & bottom - some of the making-up stitching is a bit loose (but probably always has been) - there are some faint oil stains on the right sleeve - a few faint marks elsewhere. Has been thoroughly steamed prior to listing but not washed. The pattern has some marks & creasing.
