A vintage circa 1960s work shirt, made in Romania from a heavyweight thick cotton flannel fabric with a slightly textured finish in light grey with a red & black checked pattern. Cut in a style reminiscent of mid-century American work shirts, with full front opening, open-top button through patch chest pockets, pointed collar, long tails with reinforcing gussets, & long sleeves pleated into single cuffs.

Size: Marked 16 1/2" neck, but has shrunk over the years, see measurements below. Shown on a mannequin with a 38" chest. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate (with approx. metric equivalent): Collar from button to buttonhole: 15 1/2" (39.3cm) Chest from pit to pit: 24" (61 cm) Shoulder seam to seam: 21" (53.3 cm) Sleeve shoulder to cuff: 23 1/2" (59.7 cm) Sleeve pit to cuff: 19" (48cm) Back length (base of collar at back to hem): 30 1/2" (77.5cm)
Condition: In good but well used condition with signs of wear overall, faded from countless washes, with some flaws as follows: a split at the left side of the neck which has been repaired with a small denim patch on the inside (circled) - a patch of strain & pulling at the right front of the neck (arrowed) - seam strain/separation on the edge of the right cuff (arrowed) - the inside shoulder yoke has come away at one end (circled) - the pocket buttons are different to the others (but may have always been). Has been gently washed & pressed prior to listing.
