A vintage 1970s Irish bespoke 2-piece country suit, hand tailored by 'T. Johnson & Son' of Tullow from a particularly lovely medium weight wool tweed fabric with a complex checked or plaid pattern in taupe, greens, brown, & burnt orange with a dark yellow windowpane overcheck. Single-breasted 2 button jacket with lightly padded shoulders, broad lapels, fitted waist, side vents, welted chest & angled lower flapped hand pockets, cuffs with 3 decorative buttons; fully lined in light olive satiny fabric with ivory sleeve linings. Trousers are quite full cut & fairly wide in the leg, with double front darts, side waist 'Aero' zip adjusters, side slip, front cash & 1 rear pocket, metal 'Lightning' zip fly, & turn-ups.
Shirt & tie not included.

Condition: In good condition overall, with signs of use & some flaws: the jacket has been professionally let out, with extra pieces added to the lining; stitch marks are visible where the seams originally were - there are other scattered scuffs, marks & watermarks to the lining - the trousers have a discreet repair near the fly (arrowed/circled) - an area on the left rear cuff edge has worn through & frayed - the linings & pocket bags are stained & discoloured, with a hole in the left pocket bag. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned - the suit has a slightly musty storage smell.
