An unusual vintage 1960s British 2-piece suit, bespoke tailored in 1965 by 'Will Hill, Nottingham' from wool doeskin fabric in a rare and striking burgundy colour. Single-breasted 3 button jacket with broad, quite heavily padded shoulders, slim notch lapels, slightly fitted waist, no vent, welted chest & flapped lower pockets, cuffs with 1 decorative button; fitted with domed horn buttons, fully lined in dark purple satiny rayon with ivory striped sleeve linings. Trousers are quite full cut with tapered legs, twin inward pleats, belt loops, buckle prong loop, side slip & 1 flapped rear pocket, button fly, & turn-ups.
Shirt & tie not included.

Size: Suggested 42" Regular - shown on a 38" mannequin. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent):

Condition: In good condition overall, does not appear very much worn but there is some moth damage, mostly on the jacket - consequently the suit may be more appropriate for costume or stage purposes: most noticeably, there is a hole on the right front at waist level, another on the right pocket flap, two holes on the back right towards the hem, a hole on the back near the right side seam at waist level (all circled), a small hole at the left armpit & a tiny one on the right sleeve head. Additionally there are areas of surface moth grazing, primarily on the right chest, right lapel, on the back across the shoulders, on the right pocket flap, & on the right cuff (also circled). The trousers are in better condition, with a small hole on the left rear seat (arrowed) - some minor grazing on the turn-ups - some of the fly/waist buttons are odd replacements. Has been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing but not cleaned - a slight storage mustiness remains.
