A wonderful and superbly stylish vintage 1940s jacket from the esteemed American designer 'Carmel Original' & retailed by 'Hess Brothers' of Allentown, very cleverly cut & made with from a mustard yellow & brown checked wool/rabbit hair blend fabric by 'Forstmann'. It has a blousy body, darted into the waist to give a fitted skirt, strongly padded shoulders for a bold silhouette, round neckline, yoke front shoulders & sleeve caps with floating edges, pleated edges to the front panels, slash pockets in the skirt, & wide sleeves gathered into pinch buttoning cuffs. It fastens with 2 translucent plastic honey-coloured domed/ball buttons at the neck, the waist fastens with a matching belt with marbled plastic buckle, & it is fully lined with tangerine crepe de chine,.

Condition:
In very good condition overall - there is a tiny repair to the right shoulder & a small repair at the waist (both shown in close ups) - the shoulder pads are modern replacements - scattered feint marks to the lining - the belt has been extended with petersham & a hook added to keep it fastened at maximum length - the belt loops have been replaced. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing
