A really delightful & very unusual vintage 1940s two tone dress, hand made from medium weight wool & rayon blend textured fabrics in plain very dark blue & in a slightly different blue with woven boucle checks in red & yellow. The bodice has a rounded collar, unpadded shoulders, slim sleeves with turn-back cuffs fastened by 3 buttons, a floating peplum which continues to form an apron panel on the skirt front, & 2 patch pockets; it opens to the waist with self-covered buttons. The skirt is quite flared with 2 front pleats, there is a side opening with a silver metal 'Mewa' zip with pointed puller & a matching belt with plastic buckle.

Condition: In excellent condition overall - there is a faint spot on the outside left cuff & an odd button on the right cuff (see close up) - some wear to the the cuff button loops - the bottom front button is an odd replacement - most of the paint has come off the buckle - a 3" section of the edge of the belt has been machine stitch repaired. Has been carefully hand washed & steamed prior to listing.
